I’ve worked in nonprofits for close to 25 years, and to brazenly borrow from Ecclesiastes, I tend to think there’s nothing new under the fundraising sun.

But sometimes, even I get surprised.

Soon, you will be receiving Nick’s year-end letter. I’ve read it, and it’s actually much more than just a letter making the case for your support.

In it, Nick talks about the remarkable 60-year history of American Atheists. Those of you who have been around for a while will certainly recognize a few key moments that we are recounting in our upcoming double issue of American Atheist magazine.

Of course, it’s never wise to rest on our laurels, so Nick also explains what has gone into our plan to kick off the next 60 years (spoiler alert: many of you were part of designing the plan!), and why it is more important than ever to implement a new strategy.

Fortunately for everyone, Nick knows how to write, so you won’t be reading a dry year-end form letter that could have come from any nonprofit organization out there. He lays out a strategy and timeline that I think you’ll be excited about. So do yourself a favor and read his letter when it lands in your mailbox. And let me know if you think that I promised too much. Occasionally, there is something new and visionary under the sun, and it’s on its way to you right now.

All the best,

Martina Fern
Senior Director of Development
