The reports from the Southeast are devastating. Whether you are immediately affected by Hurricane Helene, have friends or family who are dealing with the aftermath, or simply care for your fellow humans, please know that we are thinking of you and want to share useful information on how we can pitch in to help.

Here are some groups and initiatives that help without proselytizing:

Humanists of Tallahassee will be distributing food and hygiene products in one of the hardest-hit regions. This area has experienced three hurricanes in 13 months, and their goal right now is to provide meals to 100 folks next weekend. If you can support their work, they will be able to do even more.

CARE has been around since 1945, and I have a specific soft spot in my heart for them, as they helped my family rebuild after WWII.

The American Red Cross has received some bad press in the past, but I understand they are front and center during this particular effort and making a real difference.

Please note: if your group in the affected areas is doing some relief work, please let us know, and we can share it in an upcoming email to our membership.

If you can, please consider supporting these groups. And if we can be of help in some other way, please let me know.

Sincerely and with gratitude,

Martina Fern
Senior Director of Development
