Dear Friend,
The New York State Assembly is currently considering S 3486, which would require all hospitals to be transparent with patients about which services they provide — and which they don’t. We need your help to pass it!
Did you know New York allows medical facilities to deny necessary services to patients for nonmedical reasons, including the personal religious of hospital executives? That’s inappropriate enough, but it’s downright dangerous that they don’t have to tell patients like you about it. This bill will help solve this problem by requiring hospitals throughout New York to provide a list of services they refuse to provide, including reproductive care, LGBTQ+ care, and end-of-life care.
Tell your lawmakers you demand the right to make informed decisions about your health!
TAKE ACTION NOW
No one should be denied health care because of someone else’s religious beliefs, and you should never have to find out in the midst of a medical emergency that the hospital you chose is going to deny you or a loved one necessary and life-saving care. S 3486 will make sure every New Yorker has the ability to make informed health care decisions and is treated with the dignity they deserve during vulnerable moments.
Sincerely,
Victoria Anderson
