Today, I’m on the road meeting with coalition partners and volunteers, and I want to take a moment to share with you the items I am proud to point to when I talk about our work at American Atheists.
These are just a few of the areas in which we have made significant progress this year:
You may recall that we helped pass and implement a first-of-its-kind health care transparency law in Colorado that will serve as a blueprint for similar legislation in other states. This policy requires hospitals to disclose any health care services they refuse to provide based on non-medical reasons, including religious convictions.
We also defeated attempts to create new religious exemptions from public school vaccination requirements, closing some existing loopholes and keeping children safer.
And we’ve taken a leadership role with national allies in passing child marriage bans. Overall, 13 of these critical child protection initiatives have been passed since 2018.
This is important and impactful work that wouldn’t be possible without the support of our members.
