Thank you for attending our Post-Election Town Hall. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the disturbance at the beginning of the program. We have identified the problem and updated our security settings to prevent any future “zoom bombing” at our events.

The Post-Election Town Hall covered key updates on American Atheists’ plans and priorities following the election. After a farewell to Alison, who is stepping into a role with a major civil rights organization, we reviewed election results, noting the expanded presence of openly nonreligious officials and positive ballot measure outcomes on school vouchers, abortion access, and marriage equality. However, under the incoming Trump administration, we expect our secular values to face opposition at federal and state levels. To contend with this, we’re launching new initiatives to foster local communities, provide leadership resources, and defend church-state protections. In addition, our team is focusing on promoting understanding and acceptance of atheists through public engagement, coalition-building, and targeted advocacy.

We’re grateful to have a community that’s ready to face these challenges with us. Together, we’ll keep fighting for secular values and civil rights at every level, in all 50 states.
