As you know, our new strategic plan is out, and in the last couple of weeks, my colleagues have started to share our thinking behind each theme of the plan.
Building capacity is the term of the day, and for good reason: You can’t build a strong future on a shaky financial foundation. Our work is only possible with member donations. American Atheists receives no government funding and very few foundation grants. Large corporations won’t sponsor us. And that elusive tech billionaire with a heart for the civil rights of nonbelievers is likely to remain, well, elusive.
If you know me, you know I don’t mince words. We need you. A diverse and broad member base is the only thing that will ensure we can continue our work.
So as you read about our ambitious vision for the future, please remember this one plain truth: a cause worth fighting for is worth investing in.
