SUMMARY:2025 State of the States Launch (American Atheists)
DESCRIPTION:The easiest way for most of you to do that will be to share the Facebook event to your various pages and groups. Please also consider inviting people from your friends list to get even broader reach. That link is here: \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1108694794092917 \nReligious Equality Under Attack: 2025 State of the Secular States Report\nJanuary 16\, 8:00 pm ET \nAmerican Atheists is pleased to announce the publication of the seventh edition of the State of the Secular States report! This groundbreaking report on statewide laws and policies that affect religious equality and the separation of religion and government has been expanded and updated based on the 2024 legislative session. The report examines 60 measures of law\, both positive and negative\, in every state as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. \nThis report is intended to be a powerful tool for advocates and lawmakers\, explaining the laws and policies that affect the separation of religion and government in their states and allowing them to set meaningful and achievable advocacy goals. 2024 was a devastating year for civil rights and religious equality\, with widespread efforts by white Christian nationalist state lawmakers to pass legislation that undermines the separation of religion and government. Given the incoming administration\, we expect to see continued attacks on our civil rights and our democracy. It is more important than ever for atheists to become engaged in state advocacy. Come learn about the 2025 State of the Secular States report\, other advocacy resources American Atheists provides to support state advocacy\, and what we can expect in the 2025 state legislative session! \nLink to register:\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/8V7anuvuQtOLxEhIWO9zKw \nAmerican Atheists is a 501(c)(3) non-partisan\, nonprofit educational organization that relies on the support of members like you. SUMMARY:Post-election Town Hall (American Atheists)
DESCRIPTION:Join American Atheists staff and volunteers for a virtual Town Hall in response to the recent election and the significant shifts we’re seeing in U.S. leadership. With Donald Trump and Christian Nationalist allies taking control of the White House and Senate\, our secular community faces new challenges as we work to uphold the separation of religion and government. While the majority of Americans reaffirmed their support for public education\, reproductive rights\, and other secular policies\, voters simultaneously elected leaders who oppose them. American Atheists is committed to bold and fearless advocacy during this critical time\, and we invite you to join us for an open discussion on our action plans\, concerns\, and opportunities to protect civil rights in the years ahead. \nPS: Read our full statement on the election results\, and register to attend our virtual town hall on Tuesday\, November 12th. Our staff will do a deep dive on the election results\, discuss the challenges and plans ahead\, and answer your questions about the work to come. \nAmerican Atheists is a 501(c)(3) non-partisan\, nonprofit educational organization that relies on the support of members like you.
